one of the outliers in here, so many clean, seafood friendly beers here, lager heavy, some asian influence, this english dark mild on nitro felt a little bit out of left field, but im not one to pass by a mild, and it was a nice contrast to the others, eqally impressive and well made, these guys have it going on! deep brown color to this, a clean look under more than an inch of permanent light tan nitro foam, looks super well nitrogenated and pretty rich really for being this low in alcohol. the smell is a little muted as is often the case with nitro beers, some english grain character and deep toasted elements present, subtle almond, bread yeast, watery drip coffee, and soil-like earthiness, well grounded, not super expressive, but hearty and appealing. the flavor is more exciting, a chocolate malt type middle layer is prominent, just a touch of sweetness with it, brown sugar and toffee, but its earthy before its sweet, baked and well developed to me, warm in vibe, with subtle chestnut, dark bread, and even smoke, but cohesive and clean too, super creamed up by the nitro, that part of this is splendid, really enhances it, nice ferment but relatively mellow on the english yeast in flavor, dry cocoa at the end, light cola, pretty classic take on the style really, good grain depth and professionally executed. its always a good time for a mild!
