'[Ezel] “Donkey” is in Flanders a nickname for certain inhabitants or even entire village communities. In fact, for them, “donkey” stands for patience, persistence and self-confidence. So is the “EZEL”, a blond beer of highest quality with a mild flavour but fierce character.

I'm not sure why De Brabandere has two brews with different ABVs and styles using the same name, but what I drank at their taproom was at 6.5% ABV. And it was a nice table ale that I'd be glad to have again with a meal.

Ezel Belgian Blond Looks good with a nice foam and active yeast. Smells are fruity, mostly citrus; although it is now Spring and blossoms would be better. Tastes are balanced well by sufficient hops. Medium-mouthed.

I give very good Overall Hugs to De Brabandere because of their leadership in the BFBA (Belgian Family Brewers Assn) and consistent brewing quality... of which Ezel Blond qualifies.

L- Mid gold, pours clear with quite lively rising CO2 into a 2cm 'whipped' looking pale cream head. Ps at +10mins, the head holds reeeally well.
S- Mild through the foam, possibly some mild Belgian yeasty esters on the first sniff.
T- The foam head is really thick as I sip, unusually so. Though balanced malts into quite a dry trad hops finish. ps at +10mins the malty richness builds as the fridge-chill comes off it.
F- It's dryer/hoppier than I had anticipated, it might be considered a slightly more contemporary spin on the Blond style?
O- It's mostly enjoyable but hoppier than I'd anticipated. Considering the cost it likely not one I'd choose again.
