Poured into a Shaker pint. Brownish-yellow with two fingers of creamy head that slowly faded to a lumpy film that stayed with me for the whole beer. Decent lacing, too.

Not much smell except for a faint malt aroma.

Lots of flavor for an American lager. Very malty up front with a respectable ammount of hops in the finish.

Very creamy mouthfeel. Lots of body without being sticky or syrupy.

This is a very drinkable beer. All in all, very satisfying. Great with just about any meal.

This beer is either a very tasty Macro, or a very cheap Micro. Either way, I'm glad it's here. At less than $9.00 a twelve-pack, it's a great deal. I'm surprised it doesn't have a better rating here.

Pours a two finger white head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Slight hoppy nose. Starts balanced but hops assert giving a dry bitter finish. I'm still underwhelmed with Blitz-Weinhard. $1.00 for a 12oz bottle from Utah DABC Salt Lake City, Ut.

A fair all-malt lager, but lacking depth and flavor. Pours out to a nice looking deep golden color with a hint of red. Large head of white foam calms to about 1/8 of an inch. Lots of lacing. Medium level of carbonation. Aromas were light, but caramel malts, grain, wheaty-straw were noted. Taste was average, but lacked the fuller flavor that i'm used to with all-malt lagers. Lightly smoked caramel malts mixed with a healthy dose of hops, a touch of grain, and a sweet character. Mouthfeel was dense and slightly heavier than most lagers, with little carbonation making it's way to the tongue. Drinkability is pretty good. I'd have this again. Worth trying. Special thanks goes out to Dubbercody for the sample.

Pours a bright coppery yellow color topped by a half-inch of creamy white head that has some decent retention. Crisp aroma of light sweet malt, honey, and a whiff of fairly mellow hops. Palate is clean, crisp, and refreshing. A mild malt base blends well with a light hoppiness, with just a kiss of honey sweetness. Body is light and well-carbonated. Nothing too complex, just a straightforward offering that's a step up from an industrial lager. An excellent summer beer, great for drinking in large quantities on the porch on a hot summer day.

Poured from 12oz bottle a medium gold with a small head of foam that dissipated quickly but left a solid layer through out the session.

The smell is very hard to pick up...maybe some sweetness from the malt.

The taste is malty semi sweet with notes of corn and just a wee bit of lemon in the background that doesn't make for really excellent balance but...pretty good overall and a good drinker for the long hot summer season. Give it a try.

A - Pours a golden yellow color, some carbonation, tiny head fizzy's up pretty quick, nice lacing throughout the drink though.

S - Scents of sweet malts and yeast.

T - The taste is sweet and malty.

M - Medium body and well rounded.

D - Drinkable. On the bottle it sez it's a blonde lager, that's what I would call it. It's not to bad, I've had alot worse.

I poured this beer in to a pilsner glass. It has a gold color and is quite clear. The head was thin and dissipated quickly with almost no lacing.

The beer smells hoppy, but is otherwise not noteworthy.

The taste is pleasant, light, crisp and slightly bitter. There is very little after taste, and it is short lived.

This is a wonderfully average beer. It’s an excellent alternative to Bud, MGD or any of the other mega-beers. If you are looking for something special, this isn’t it.

Henry Weinhard's Northwest Trail Blonde Lager in a 12 oz. brown bottle with no freshness date to be found. I poured it into a standard pint glass.

The beer poured a golden straw color with a fizzy white head. The head disappeared but a white ring stayed around the outside of the glass. No lacing stayed on the glass though. The beer smelled sweet, almost with a grassy scent to it as well. The flavor hit with some malt but with nothing much else. Watered down taste with a pretty light mouthfeel that is really ust kind of there. Drinkable and cheap, but nothing spectacular or even above average of note with this one. That said, although they are technically different styles, I'd take this over Budweiser or MGD almost any day.

This beer poured a golden color with a finger of head that fell quickly. The nose was lots of funky lager tones with sweet fruity undertones. Not my favorite. Blah on the taste too. The flavor was lots of lager crap with some background sweetness and hop that couldn't save it. I had a little bit and dumped the rest. The feel was moderate, but not anything more. Drinkability was not good at all...as I said, I dumped it. Don't bother.

Written From Notes Compiled 6/04-8/04:
Light bronze coloration, small lacing. Smells of lighty grassy malts, and sweet carmel. Hops presence is fairly good, even when served refrigerator cold. A lot of CO2. A pretty good value for $5.80 for a 6 pack .

Pours a respectable shade of gold with some head that disappears to a fine film of lace. Somewhat sharp aroma of cooked vegetables. The beer is adequately malty, with a mineral zing, and a decent crispness from the hops. However, a metallic taste gets in the way, and the beer is surprisingly ponderous, not quite as refreshing as one would like from a blonde mega-lager. Mouthfeel a bit bubbly. Drinkability about what one would expect from a beer of this style. It is possible this sample is a bit on the old side; bottle code reads 08304. Although it was more substantial, I enjoyed it less than Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve.

A golden-honeyed orange color in appearance, with a two-finger head that takes off in record time. The combination of smells is corn chips, wet dog, malt, a tiny bit of citrus and there is a skunk somewhere in the bushes, probably preparing to chase the wet dog. (Maybe I got a hold of a not-so-good batch of the stuff. hmm.)

The taste, once you get past the funky smell, is reasonably good. It's a little bit on the sweet side, but it is light-bodied and crisp enough to be refreshing. The finish is dry and pleasant. There is a lingering orange/citrus coupled with a malt flavor that hangs out in the mouth for a bit. Maybe even a bit too long.

Alas, if it were not for the strangeness of the smell, I'd be more apt to give this brew a rating of at least a "3" across the board. For 4.49 a six pack, I can't complain too much.

I guess your typical summer picnic menu would be alright to drink with this. Or maybe dump it in some chili. I'm using mine in a corn and black bean chili with chipotle. What the hell. Why not.

Henry Weinhard's Northwest trail was served form a 12oz. twistoff bottle. In a pint glass, the beer was honey-golden in color, and lacked any substantial head...just a thin foam ring and scattered foam islands. The nose was lighty sweet, with a light hoppiness shyly presenting itself. The taste yielded a soft light honey-malt profile, with a mellow-zip transition into a clean light hoppy bitterness. The flavor was quite subtle all around, but it was pleasant and balanced. The body was nicely full and smooth(saving this beer from being a overly wimpy), and the carbonation was well-done for the presentation of the flavors. Overall, a mellow but decent and refreshing beer for outdoor summer fun.

Northwest Trail is a medium gold with little to no head. The smell is a little fruity with a huge aroma of hops. The taste is not bad, alot of hops overpower the slight hint of cirtrus flavor. Very clean lager and light. A very drinkable beer, mostly on hot summer days, have had out of the bottle and thought didn't taste as good as on tap. Normal though for most beers.

Appearance – Deep yellow shaded with orange and a decent head that laced the glass.

Smell – The standard grain aroma is offset by some decent-smelling hops. There’s also an orange scent to this one.

Taste – This isn’t half bad. The hops come on more at the taste; the grain is more of an afterthought. There is a hint of orange sweetness but mostly the light hops define the flavor.

Mouthfeel – Lightly carbonated and somewhat dry.

Drinkability – This is a lot better than the Blue Boar.

Medium gold color, medium head. Aroma is fruity and sweet. A medium bodied lager. Mild malts and hops, yet very flavorful. Very smooth taste. Very refreshing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet, nearly neutral. Nice beer.
