theyre calling this one a dank pale ale, and i believe it has to be dosed with weed terpenes, its overly intense to be all hop pellets, and the serious dankness makes it present like a somewhat unbalanced beer that has been flavored. that said, its pretty good too, its bright and interesting and kind of grows on me over the course of a pint, it warms up better than expected, and my palate gets used to the intensity quicker than i thought it might after the first sip kind of took me by storm. yellow colored brew, not quite to golden, really blonde and easy looking, lighter on the malts than i typically expect from a pale ale, and this is in fact unbalanced, but maybe less because of the malt and more because of the dank aspect. smells like a bag of weed, or rather like making bubble hash, an intense cannabis resinous piney potent thing that really defines this, and the flavor is like that too, any hops or grain are entirely secondary and tertiary in this mix, i like the nose better than the taste, but they are the same, its just more appealing to smell than it is to ingest, and while i think this is a technically well made beer, this extra element is just way out of whack, and i imagine most drinkers will find the intensity a little off putting, even if its also kind of novel and good, its just too much. i like the lighter grain and also the easy body this has, high carbonation, close to dry, clean ferment, there is a lot to like here, but any hop nuance is kind of trampled by the terpene element (which i assume thats what it is, would love to know for sure, but no way this is all hops). green pinecone and sap, some gin character, all very fresh, a little slick on the tongue, and it stays with me awhile, like i get weed burps an hour later, which i dont love. tone that aspect of this back by half or so and we have a unique and clever pale, at this dosage rate its a one and done for me...
