golden ale with guava, probably not real actual fresh guava, but tastefully dosed and on a quality enough base beer, this is an easy one for summer, one of the most accessible beers on their list here in the early stages, and not at all overdone, so quite drinkable, the key for me is relative lack of sweetness, which makes this a pint beer, and its cool to have guava without the range of tropical fruits its usually associated with in beer, neat on its own in this. the base beer is quite light but not boring or bland, it has some grain color and flavor, minimal as it is, its relatively clean on the ferment, nice and fresh, and low enough on the hops that the guava stands right out as the flavor leader, well incorporated. honey toned, near clear, short white head from the tap. some juiciness in the nose, i think identifiable as guava specifically, although without the mouthwatering tartness i was kind of hoping for from it, low dose it seems, which is quite okay for drinkability, simple in a good way really. the flavor takes a second, like its just a golden ale to start, light, round, pale clean barley flavor, the fruit wakes up after a second, light orange with it, pink grapefruit maybe, soft tropical flourish right on the swallow really, slow fade with the relaxed carbonation this has, pleasant aftertaste. warm weather beer for drinking, i dig the restraint on the fruit, nothing to set the world ablaze here, but a serviceable pint for this time of year. these guys are off to a good start!
