Baobab Beer is a new beer in the Jacobsen series from Carlsberg. It was made in collaboration with chefs Kirk+Maarbjerg for the food festival with the very catchy name: Copenhagen Cooking and Food Festival 2016. Carlsberg writes that the beer is 'an Ale with a touch of Baobab and fruit', which is "fresh with balanced bitterness"

Copenhagen 10/12 2016. 75 cl bottle from Irma, Smedetoften, Kbh. NV. Label looks like some exhibition piece trying to look extremely African. I can understand that this brew was produced for Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival.

Pours clear reddish brown with a small yellowish head. Bubbly. Head disappears quite fast leaving what looks like a flat glass of coke. No lacing.

Aroma is quite weak. Sweetish. Caramel, sugar and not much else.

Medium strong carbonation and a slightly thick palate. Lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is quite sweet but partly balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers shortly.

A bit too sweet and maybe too subtle for me to pick up the truly exotic Baobab flavor.
