Appearance: Presents with a dark figgy brown body and a nice head with plenty of lacing.
Smell: Smoky roasted malt aroma - an earthiness to it that was very complex
Taste: Sweet and smokey malt backbone balanced by just a wee bit of hoppy bitterness
Mouthfeel: Just a little too light and a bit too carbonated for a Scottish; a bit more like an American Amber in mouthfeel
Drinkability: My favorite beer from the Mad Boar and a very worthy Scottish Ale. In fact, I am having a hard time thinking of any other Scottish Ales brewed in the Carolinas so kudos to the brewmaster for this offering.

The pour was dark copper/mahogany with a good one finger head that quickly dissapated and left a thin white lace on top of the beer.
The smell was quite malty with a hint of fruit, raisons and apricots, also just a hint of hop spice in the back of the nose.
The drink started with a malt kick followed by just a hint of hops. The finish was a quick bite of porter like coffee and lingering hops.
Of the beers I had at Mad Boar, this one was my favorite. It's quite drinkable and refreshing with just enough hops to keep it interesting.

A very dark offering with red highlights and light carbonation, as a result the head is short consisting of an off white tan foam and eventual glass ring.
The body is weaker than anticipated but still just short off full.
The taste is of ginger yet bitter sweet and lingering.
Mouthfeel is unusual in that it seems a perky flat....strange but true.
