Mr. Slates Gravel Berry Ale is a raspberry wheat beer. It was served in a standard pint glass. The beer is a very cloudy peach color, served to the rim with no room for a head.

Huge raspberry nose backed by some grains, but make no mistake, this one leads and finishes with a big raspberry nose.

The taste is pleasantly astringent with lots of raspberry. The finish is banana and clove and this helps balance the big raspberry notes. This beer is not sweet or cloying. The brewer has pulled off a nice fruit beer married to a rock solid hefe.

The mouth has a pleasant heft and the beer has very low carbonation. The beer hit the spot, but I think it is a one a nighter and not a session beer. This is a beer for a weise beer drinker looking for a change-up.

Appears light red in color with a small layer of white foam.

It smells of sweet raspberry extract. It does not seem to be a natural raspberry flavor it almost smells like a raspberry cool-aid or soda. There is also an ever so slight grainy smell.

It tastes not as sweet as I thought it would. There is still a strong sweet (not tart raspberry flavor. there is also a bit of a floral type of a flavor. the beer also has a tad bit of a sweet grainy flavor.

The carbonation is moderate low with a thin mouthfeel.

The sweet berry flavor makes it hard to drink a lot of this beer.

Overall it is not my cup of tea but I have had far worst berry beers. I guess it is average for the style. Worth getting if you want a light sweet berry beer.
