Hardly any other premium beer has remained as true to itself as Jever. For 170 years now, Jever has been cultivating its own Frisian-bitter taste.
The special mix of the best brewing water and high-quality hops makes our Jever so Frisian-tart and refreshing at the same time!

Copenhagen 17/9 2016. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh. Ø. I can understand that this is one of the many fine things that Dr. Oetker has sweetened our lives with - besides the "Ristorante Pizza Hawaii". Drawing of very small Castle-like brewhouse on the label - which is by all means unexciting and austere.

Pours clear yellow with a white head. Stable. Settles as 1,5 cm thick layer of foam. Moderate lacing.

Aroma reminds me of any mass-produced pilsner. Subdued sweet malts and a very moderate presence of bitterness. Maybe a little saltiness.

Medium strong carbonation and watery palate. Lively texture.

Flavor is medium sweet followed by a pronounced bitterness. Actually quite crisp as announced on the label.

Well balanced mass-produced pilsner which I would prefer compared to many of its Danish counterparts.

Bought at the LBCO and imbibed after a few hours of yard work, Jever was a lovely and tasty treat. I particularly enjoyed the slightly soft mouth feel (I expected something a bit more crispy) and the balanced flavour. I recommend Jever and look forward to trying it again.

Very drinkable Pils with a nice balance of sweetness and drying bitterness. Available flavors are cereal grains and honey with floral hop kiss. Maintains a small cap of foam mostly throughout allowing for some delicate lacing to present itself. Body and feel are upper echelon for this style. I can see this beer getting into my semi-regular rotation

Very clear, golden in color. Vibrant, white head. Nose is zestlike and malts. Taste is sweet with malts jumping forward on the palate. Decent amoutn of bitterness on palate.

Drank straight from the bottle like a heathen.

Smells like sweet dough and cereal grains. Faint skunkiness.

The taste is a bit more like a Czech pilsner. Very sweet, doughy malt and cereal grains. Has a strong hop character. Herbal and spicy. Surprisingly bitter on the finish.

Body is medium-light with prickly carbonation. Creamy and dry. Lingering bitterness.

Overall, a solid pilsner. It's definitely sweeter than other German lagers I've had, but the hop character is sufficiently pronounced. Kind of a chore to finish, when it should be more refreshing.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 500mL in a nonic pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. My first beer from the Jever, Germany brewery...

Poured from 500mL can into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: light golden hue with total clarity and a thick head of frothy ivory foam atop.

Smell: malt is quite sweet, with a rather honey-like quality to it. Sweeter than I think of the style as being, but not bad.

Taste: less of that honey character is the flavor than in the aroma, but there's still plenty of malt sweetness here, plus a bit of grainy character. The hops character is a little drowned out for me, maybe kind of earthy and herbal, but there's plenty of bitterness here. Decent, but not the greatest.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a pretty refreshing pilsner, but it's a bit too sweet and a bit too bitter to be super drinkable.

This is what a great German Pilsner should be and this one is! High quality water, barley malt, proper noble hops, and pride in their craft! Most German Pils suck. Flensburger is the only other one that checks all the boxes.

This one is one of the very few ones that excel at being well-made and delicious. Very similar to a proper Czech Pilsner with just the right rich golden color, fantastic bready/grassy aroma, and an elegant noble hop bite.

Worthy!

Appearance: Clear yellow, big head.

Smell: Grassy, bread, maybe a touch of butter.

Taste: Dry, then a mild bready sweetness for a short while before giving a dry grassy bitter finish. Super drinkable.

Overall: I've wanted to try this for quite a while but never saw it here in MN. Finally found a 4 pack and it lived up to my hopes! Hoppy pilsner with just enough sweetness to balance, supremely drinkable.

Light golden color and a good-looking white head. Malt, grass, and grain in the aroma. Crisp, malty taste with moderate hoppy bitterness. It is balanced and refreshing.
