Santé 1-19 vertical. Thanks Stakem!

Copper body with a mild haze. Light beige bubbly head. Aromas include aromatic malt, candied fruit, yeast, bread, funk, rain water. Sweet well water. Boozy and best in small doses.

750ml bottle into a matching Fantome tulip. The brew appears a clear amber color with a finger of yellowish stained froth sitting atop. Webby lace sticks to the glass as the cap slowly fades. A light swirl revives a finger back to the surface.

The aroma is significant with signs of oxidation. Cardboard and wet paper, a hint of cork. Under the oxidation is plenty of dried fruit quality like raisin mixed with cherry or apples. Nothing too exciting here but not bad either.

The taste includes some cardboard-like suggestions of oxidation. A touch of minerals and a fruity note caught somewhere between apples, pears and raisins. The flavors here are unique and dont totally blend together all that well but it isnt bad by any stretch.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. Not bad but also not that thrilling. By comparison, in this session of sampling 5 Fantomes that were all from roughly the same era, this was the youngest yet showed the most significant signs of its age with little complexity.

Bottle at Fantome-a-thon 2012

Amber in color with a small head. Quite sweet on the nose with lots of caramel, butterscotch, and fruit. Definitely some cork and a weird herbal note I can’t pin down. The flavor is a touch watery at points, but still sweet with bread and caramel being big components. There is a strong molasses flavor which gives a bit of anise/licorice note to it. Wasn’t a big fan of this one.
