We took our refreshing gluten-free beer, New Grist Pilsner, and brewed it with fresh ginger for a zesty, thirst-quenching flavor: introducing New Grist Ginger. This beer pours light gold with a rocky white head kicking out aromas of ginger and malted sorghum. The spicy-sweet ginger greets the palate first, before moving into the familiar flavor of New Grist: tangy green apple, light body, and crisp, refreshing finish. Overall, New Grist Ginger is a flavorful, easy-drinking, session beer with a snappy ginger punch. New Grist Ginger goes great with any variety of ginger-infused Asian dishes, like the sweeter broth of chicken Saigon pho, mild-to-spicy Thai gai pad king, or the spicy citrus notes of chana masala.

12oz bottle, just called New Grist Ginger Style Beer, and made with rice in addition to the base sorghum. Now I know why I'm not in support of nutrition labeling on beer - good ol' cognitive dissonance!
This beer pours a clear, very pale golden straw colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and mildly bubbly bone-white head, which leaves a bit of splattered sudsy lace in places around the glass as it quickly fizzles away.
It smells of sharp, musty ginger root, a sugary, thankfully indistinct graininess, other muddled earthy spices (maybe some black pepper and cinnamon), and the suggestion of metallic alcohol. The taste contains a lessened ginger flavour, with the heat remaining, a grainy, pithy, and tainted-seeming sweetness (think aspartame), more flat earthy spice, and a touch of dead leafy and weedy hop bitterness.
The carbonation is fairly light-footed in its frothy tripping across my palate, the body medium-light in weight, and so-so smooth, the rice apparently not capable of totally obfuscating that sorghum clamminess. It finishes off-dry, the ginger lingering well amongst the still tongue-scrape worthy 'malt'.
At least the guest ginger performs multiple duties here - beyond its flavour and zest, it mostly obscures the banalities of the two non-standard grain sources, a typical issue in true gluten-free beers. Not particularly difficult to drink, but man, is it making me jones for some Royal Jamaican on this sunny 'Autumn' day. Yeah, snow.

L: brilliant straw with rapidly rising bubbles under a moderate white cap with fair retention
S: Ginger is the dominant aroma supported by malted sorghum which has grain and a faint earthy, wood aroma
T: light sweetness, mild ginger leading to a burst of ginger on the finish with a little ginger heat that grows as you drink the beer
F: body is light and the carbonation is medium high
O; This is a decent gluten-free alternative

I find it amusing that the previous reviewer is none other than my local, in-person trader, tone77. I must have somehow gotten a duplicate of this beer, turned one over to him & allowed the other to sink into the morass of the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody. At last, its time has come!
From the bottle: "Beer made from Rice, Sorghum & Ginger".
I Pop!ped the cap & gave it a fairly heavy-handed pour since the previous "Ginger Ale" had acted more like pop & fizzed out pretty quickly. This one actually acted like beer & formed a two-finger cap of dense, rocky, bone-white head with moderate retention. Color was Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 -5) with NE-quality clarity, prompting a visit from the Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus, all jockeying for a taste. Nose smelled strongly of ginger, which was suitable and good, especially since I do not like the smell that sorghum gives off. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but not much beyond. Man, the taste was very much of ginger, much closer to ginger ale pop than that sweet one from yesterday. Yes, the sorghum bitterness was there, but it was not prevalent and it was nicely offset by the ginger. Finish was dry, spicy and enjoyable, especially if you like Ginger Ale. I generally prefer it as a mixer, but this was decent on its own. I said during a long-ago GF horizontal that I realize that I am not the target audience & I try to bear that in mind when talking especially about taste. This could be recommended to both celiac sufferers & casual drinkers alike.

A thanks to woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a brwon 12 oz. bottle. A bottle from woodychandler? Who'd a thunk it? Has a very pale yellow color with a 1 inch head. Smell is mild, reminds me of a diet ginger ale. Taste has sorghum dominating, ginger is present as well. Feels light in the mouth and overall I won't be needing another, but as far as gluten free beers go, I have had much, much worse. Also, drinks more like a herbed/spiced beer than a fruit beer.

Aroma is ginger, spices and malts/grains. The flavor is fruit, ginger, grains/malts, vinegar/steak sauce and the expected sorghum throughout and into the finish.

Pale gold in color with enormous head.
Smell is ginger and cheap beer.
Taste is ginger, mild sweetness, hops, and some grains.
Mouthful is light with high carbonation.
Overall this kind of resembles a kolsch in character but lacks any of the details. The ginger dominates throughout and while it isn't a bad beer, it isn't anything special.
