This classic, German-style beer pours deep gold with a loose white head, releasing moderate woody and peppery aromas from late-boil Spalter, Czech Saaz, and Perle hop additions. The malty sweetness with traces of caramel is balanced by spicy and earthy noble hop flavors, before moving into a clean finish with some lingering hop bite.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy, white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of bready malt and grassy hops. Body is medium and crisp. Bready malt and grassy hops nicely balanced on the palate. Finish is medium and semi-dry. Good brew.

Pours white foam that descends in average time to a thin ring around the perimeter of the glass. Body is a medium-dark golden orange color, with light bringing out golden yellow hues. Mostly transparent, 10-20% opacity.
Aroma of classic lager yeast (like a peanut-grape bread dough) and pale dried malt with dry grasses; very, very faint hop spiciness.
Flavor is similar to smell: classic peanut-grape bread dough with a bit of pale dried malt and dry grasses, a touch of faint caramel-like sweetness, with a hop presence that gives a bit of spiciness and leaf-litter woodsiness to the overall impression. Front: pale dried malt and dry grass with a touch of light caramel-like sweetness and moderate strength peanut-grape bread dough character; mild hop spiciness and leaf-litter woodsiness. Mid: moderate strength peanut-grape bread dough character upfront, with light caramel-like sweetness and then pale dried malt/dry grass; the hops adding spicy and woodsy undertones with a light bitterness. Back: spiciness and subtle herbal/woodsy character from hops with mild clean bitterness atop the pale dried malt/dry grass flavor, the peanut-grape bread dough character becoming mild and in the background. After: lingering clean hop bitterness atop peanut-grape bread dough character and then dry malt/dry grass flavor.
Beer is medium bodied, with carbonation of medium intensity, resulting in a balanced foamy-smooth mouthfeel of about 60% foam, 40% smoothness (possibly 2.3-2.4 vol CO2). Somewhat overcarbonated for the style. Closes semi-dry, with medium to medium-heavy stickiness lingering on the palate and lips.

Happened on this new one by chance and couldn't pass up a lager from one of my favorite breweries from the start of the Micro Boom®.
Best by November 24, 2017 clearly marked on the label. 5.5 ABV from the Lakefront web site. Poured into my short Becher glass.
L -- Clear gold with a dense, creamy, long-lasting white head.
S -- Herbal, spicy noble hop character. Light bready malts back.
T -- Lightly sweet, bready malts up front with spicy hops balancing everything perfectly. Doughy breadiness with a touch of sweet bread crust lingers in the finish with bitter, herbal hops bringing up the aftertaste.
F -- Mouthfeel is soft and clean with a medium body.
O -- What a great take on the style. While the bready malt whispers Helles, the well-balanced traditional hop flavor takes this north of Bavaria in a classy interpretation of the Dortmund style. It doesn't have that mineral character so common in a Dortmunder, but the great balance between malts and hops make up the difference considerably.

Pours a soft, frothy head. Floral hops dominate the nose, with malt behind. Golden ochre color with chill haze. Starts with a bright, floral hoppiness. A touch of spicy hops before amazing, smooth malt wells up. The bitterness peaks with zesty, floral hop and lingers into the finish.
A traditional German lager made by Lakefront? This is exactly as amazing as you would expect. It is crisp, refreshing, malty, with a perfect balance of hop zestiness. Yet again, the My Turn Series creates a winner.
