This Double IPA pours deep brass with a fine, off-white head that smacks of grapefruit and fresh mango. Pucker up for citrus, melon, and resinous Amarillo® and Mosaic® hop flavors over a biscuity, caramel malt palate. Medium-bodied with a mild alcohol warmth, Clutch Cargo finishes with lingering hop resin and citrus peel.

On tap at Craft &Draft in Columbia.
Clear amber with a cream finger’s head. Strong lacing, persistent ring and islands remain.
Strong dank odor grabs your attention. Piney blast.
Balanced hoppy pine and citrus flavors competing with a malt backbone.
Smooth, substantial mouthfeel, low bitterness.
Not sure what kegs of this are doing in South Carolina, but this was a nice introduction to Lakefront.

i havent had much hop forward beer from lakefront, but this is great, and its one of the best overall beers i have had from these guys period. surprised folks havent reviewed it more favorably. it has a thick white head from the tap, a light brassy color in a dim lit bar, and fine clarity. the aroma is a familiar northwestern type hop complexion, but its incredibly robust, fresh, and oily. big pine in the nose and taste, very very fresh, and then rather bitter to finish, but not after a rush of sweet malts, hops oils, and a grounding lightly toasted caramel profile, really complete glass of beer that hits all the essentials as it moves along. i am surprised how well the hops come through the bigger malt base, they must have dosed it awfully heavily, and there is a cool bitter orange element to it too. very full bodied, but smooth going down, not harsh in alcohol or in bitterness oddly enough, and feels well rounded as they go. a downright delicious and very fresh double ipa from these guys, who have been really up or down in my experience with their stuff, but this is fantastic. i like it being a little maltier ahead of the fall season here!
