Looks nice. Burgandy body. Tight little beige head. Aroma is of dark fruits. Body is medium. Flavor is quite nice with notes of fig and raisin, plum and dark fruits. Complex flavor profile. Drinks pretty light for a dopple. This is quite good overall. Probably in my Top 10 Dopples of the past 25 years.

This really hits the mark as a doppelbock for me. Rich bready and dark fruit notes...not sure if they decotated this but it would appear that way with significant melanoidins.....love the dark fruit notes as well...red grapes and red plums..
Smells like liquid bread...
Impressive dark brown/cherrywod color
Full bodied but clean....rich but not cloying..actually drinks a little lighter than most in this style..
This is a dandy....It's been awhile but I remember the NG doppel as a little better but this ranks right up there as one of the better American made versions I've had.

Another from a long-time favorite brewery. Missed this when it was first released, but a local had some overstock. Best By 5-16-23. Poured into a short Becher.
L -- Clear, deep copper with a sudsy, light tan head that settles rather quickly.
S -- Lightly spicy hops, peppery alcohol, pumpernickel bread crusts (molasses) and the "fresh" type of DMS. Notes of dark fruits and earthiness with warming.
T -- Lightly sweet pumpernickel bread crusts up front followed by a clay earthiness and peppery alcohol. The alcohol gets slightly phenolic in the aftertaste -- take that as a warning! Some light vegetal DMS in the finish and aftertaste, but mostly dark bread crust maltiness.
F -- Mouthfeel is lightly syrupy to lightly dry with a light-robust body.
O -- A very good Doppelbock from an Ami brewery that has had good lager in their portfolio since before it was the "new hip thing."

Pours golden amber, nearly see thru with a quickly dissipating head of foam. Aroma is malt. Taste is slightly caramel and, in the background, malt. Carbonation is moderate. A celebration of Lakefront's 35th trip around the sun.
