Cartel Brewing and Lancaster Brewing have collaborated on a beer called “Respect Your Elders”. This beer “pays tribute to the OG breweries & purveyors of delicious double India Pale Ale from here and abroad”. Beer fans will notice how similar the can label looks to Russian River’s iconic “Pliny The Elder”. The two Lancaster breweries actually got Russian River and Vinnie Cilurzo (co-owner of Russian River Brewing) to give their blessing to make this beer and label for a one-time batch!
Respect Your Elders is an 8% ABV West-Coast style double IPA available Thursday, May 26th at 4PM in 4-packs of 16oz cans, and on draft at both Lancaster Brewing (Plum Street only) and Cartel Brewing. There will also be some collectible bottles in the OG Pliny style bottle.
This is the first beer in a potential series of tribute beers they will be doing, cloning some of the more iconic craft beers of the last decade and beyond.

16oz canned 5/20/22 (23 days ago) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 8% ABV. The beer pours bright in the color of a copper penny with khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin ring and island leaving behind some rings of lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength featuring caramel malt, candied citrus and soft pine. The taste is bittersweet with caramel malt up front before the piney & citrusy hop flavors begin to dominate. Moderate to strong final bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good.

A thanks to the man who added this beer, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has an orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pine, resin. Taste is dank, resinous, piney, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.
