Two twelve ounce cans have been emptied into a clear glass liter mug. There's a sweetness in the air, like flower blossoms. It's a brew of dull honey color and it's opaque. There's a modest off-white head that appears to be enduring. The sweetness carries into the taste, but it's not as pronounced as it is to the nose. Part of that correction is that this is nicely hopped. There's little earthiness to the body, which can't only be of barley malt. Yet upfront, there's a touch of sourness, then the hops push this toward bitter and dry at the finish. Even there, an orangelike citrus sweetness remains. It's not too far off to compare the primary taste here to a tart orange pound cake. Whatever the starches used, likely there are plenty of oats, this brings an almost lactose inclusion to both the taste and mouthfeel. That's not a listed ingredient, so it's likely a byproduct of not pasteurizing the brew. Overall, it's a little too sweet, although there is some good balance with the hops. Also, the body, although sufficient, seems a little sticky. It's probably worth a try, if you like a strong NEIPA that conceals a solid ABV with bland starches and balancing hops. There won't be any glass lacing to contemplate as the beer is evaluated.
