Negra Modelo, better known as "the cream of the beer", is a Munich-type beer with 5.3º of alcohol that offers a balanced flavor and a delicate aroma of dark malt, caramel and hops.
Today it occupies the first place in sales among dark beers in Mexico. This beer is accompanied by a bright deep amber color, which is adorned with abundant, white and compact foam.
Negra Modelo was introduced in Mexico in 1925 as the dark beer called Modelo, to begin its great tradition. In 2014 it changed its image to a more sophisticated bottle but with the same content.
Ingredients - Water, barley malt, non-malted cereals, hops

If I were judging solely by value, this beer would be top tier. For the price point and availability, this stands among the best.
As a mass produced Mexican cerveza, again, it's outstanding.
Now, judged strictly as a beer, among all others, I still find it to be very enjoyable.
Notable banana aroma upon pouring...nice malt flavor...an easy drinking, thirst quenching beer that will pair well with spicy Mexican food (or any spicy food). I like it much more than the Modelo Especial
Best when ice cold.

An amber pour from a bottle.
High clarity and a head that fades quickly and leaves little lacing.
The toasted caramel malt has as pleasant flavor.
Hops flavor is mild and balanced. Mouthfeel is lighter, and well carbonated. A little tangy in the finish.

It's hard to find a better Macro than Negro Modelo. At the intersection of taste and price, you'll be met with a black bottle with gold foil.

My first Modelo Negra. Can’t believe it took me this long. Smell was disappointing. Reminded me of Yuengling, a little skunky. Might just be the six pack I picked up because I haven’t heard of this before from Modelo Negra. Taste was different though. My favorite beer is almost any Oktoberfest and this reminded me of most of them. No bitter aftertaste a Carmel, toasted bread taste. This more you drink the better it taste.

One of my friend's loves these, so the other day I decided to try it. I got to say in my opinion I like it more than regular Modelos. Its a very flavorful beer. It's probably now currently my favorite Mexican beer.

This beer is a good compromise between a beer that quenches thirst on a hot day (like a Tecate or a Pabst) and a beer that actually tastes great at anytime (like a Saison DuPont, La Chouffe, Jever, etc.). It has some degree of a malted body, a hint of sweetness, and a pleasant amount of carbonation. As far as mass-produced, inexpensive Mexican beers go, this one is the best.

Copenhagen 26/6 2015. 35,5 cl bottle from Føtex, Mimersgade, Kbh. NV. Black label with white letters.
Pours reddish brown with a white head. Subsides quickly. No lacing.
Aroma is sweetish and of dark roasted malts, chocolate and fermented fruit.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, lively and tingling texture.
Flavor is watery but sweet. Toffee and brown sugar. Not much bitterness going on.
Decent Mexican brew.

In my twenty plus years of drinking beer I’ve never tried this beer until tonight. Usually Dos Equis amber is my go to beer at a Mexican restaurant but they were out.
It’s like a lighter watered down version of a classic German dark lager with more muted flavors. Simply inoffensive and somewhat tasty. I wouldn’t seek it out but if pairs well with a burrito!

Pours a clear but very dark brown color with one finger of off white foam and persistent lacing on tap into a 22 ounce glass mug. Aroma of kilned malts, and dark bread with faint hop presence with similar flavors. Good carbonation and mouthfeel. Enjoyable on tap.

I swear this stuff used to be better. My go to at any Mexican restaurant but I get the little bottles sometimes for home. The color makes you think it would be more substantial. Thin and sweet like candy. You can throw these down. I still find it refreshing but it doesn't hit the spot like it used to.
