Had this beer at the 2007 Hard Liver Festival.
This was the oldest barleywine served at the festival and the added age clearly showed. The beer was considerably lighter then any other beer I sampled, showing a light orange/brown/amber color. Despite it's age this beer was in remarkably good shape, though I don't think it would benefit from any additional aging. The beer had a wonderful caramel and vanilla nose, with lots of caramel and toffee flavor on the palate. The beer was very rich, sweet and smooth, losing none of it's flavor and potency after sitting in the glass for half an hour. No hard edges to this beer, and I must say it was entirely too easy to drink. An outstanding beer from Big Sky. Delicious.
