Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a hazy orange-amber color with a one finger head of fluffy white foam. The head fades slowly over time leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a citrus and tropical fruit hop smell with lots of tangerine, pineapple, and mango. Along with these smells comes some aromas of a little bit of bread and some light notes of melon and grass.
Taste – The taste begins with a somewhat bready taste that is accompanied by some hop of an earthy and herbal nature and just a tiny touch of citrus. As the taste moves forward it sweetens a bit as some flavor to pineapple and melon come to the tongue. All the while some yeasty tastes start to work their way into the scene. Toward the end the yeast and fruit surge a bit and are joined by even more dank hop tastes of herb and pine, leaving one with an oddly dank and somewhat tropical, but not citrusy, taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the medium to thick side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a higher level of carbonation. For the somewhat dank hop tastes and thicker bready nature the feel is pretty decent and makes it somewhat slower sipping, but still accentuates the somewhat odd mix of flavors rather well.
Overall – This is a sort weird hazy IPA. It has the look and the smell of a standard NEIPA, but the taste is rather different. It is lacking in the big citrus and instead has a decent hit of dank and grassy hop tastes. Odd for the style, and a taste I didn’t love at first, but it kind of grows on you and in the end is rather enjoyable.
