Had this beer in tap and subsequently from the growler. From notes on 4/9/11. All proceeds from the beer go toward AniMeals in Missoula, MT.
A: Pours dark brown with cherry hues. Excellent clarity. Little to no head formation which is a light latte color with fine density. Subsides quickly. No lacing.
S: Lots of cocoa and coconut on the nose here. Pretty much dominates the beer. Leftover are some tones of dry, dark malts. Pretty good smeller. Some hints of bing cherry.
T: Tastes of lots of cocoa, hints of coconut. Fairly sweet as far as porters go, but the ABV is well hidden. Just the slightest hint of roasted hazelnut in the background.
M: Medium body with low carbonation. A good fit for the beer IMO. I am satisfied with the feel here. Good long finish is slicking on the palate.
O: well done. I would like to see this one bottled and given a good year in the bottle. If they needed to, boosting the ABV up another 1.5% would do this beer good to knock back the sweetness IMO.
