I'm sorry John, I didn't feel the way you do about gargoyles. Beautiful to look at, rich in color and a sweet smell is about it for me. I do think the wife would love it. It was just too fruity for me. I guess I should stick with the pale ales and the porters.

Rich and dark in color. The burnt, coffee, dark roasted malt aroma hints at the bitterness to come. The aroma delivers on its promise with dark chocolate, coffee, mild and subtle blackberry flavor. Hops are on target providing a momentary distraction. Full, satisfying mouthfeel, balanced finish. Nice.
