Mad Sea’d is refreshment in a can. We use a kettle souring process to give a unique tartness that’s balanced by the addition of sweet watermelon juice. Hanf harvested sea salt from Amagansett sea salt co. Rounds out the beer. Making it the perfect bree for when you get salty this summer.

From the 16 oz can that expires 20 Dec 201. Sampled on September 8, 2018.

It pours a straw yellow color with an erupting white fizzy head that disappears fast. No lacing.

It's brewed with watermelon so I pick up that sensation on the nose as well as a grainy character. It smells clean.

Light, effervescent body.

I would put this in the Gose category because the sea salt thy use is forward with a wisp of watermelon and grainy sweetness behind it. Ends crisp. Just not my thing.

Pours a cloudy yellow with no head to speak of. Smell is grassy and salty but not overwhelming. Taste is salt with watermelon coming later and subtly. A little bitter and tangy on the tongue. Finish is more salt than watermelon. Interesting but I don't think I would get again.

A: crystal clear; medium gold in color; 1 finger white head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

S: grain, grass, and a little salt;

T: grass up front, then salt, then watermelon; watermelon tastes natural; very mild bitterness on the finish;

M: light to medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: I expected at least a little watermelon in the aroma, and more watermelon in the flavor;

DATE: June 30, 2018...OCCASION: relaxing after finishing Michael's travel season and celebrating the Fourth with Mike Riggs and friends... GLASSWARE: Weihenstephan lager... pours a quickly simmering thin white line of head... its body is hazy, sallow gold, and disparate bubbles... first aroma is light watermelon, light clove, and tart fruits... a dry, thin, quenching punch accompanies its first sip, while it shifts quickly through the mouth to the throat, with a gassy, beefy finish... medium-bodied, but with a comforting salt bath at its finish.... not a lot to say about its profile, except it's like the Sea Quench Ale with an added fruity tartness... its tartness kicks at the teeth, and puckers more than expected... flavorful for its understated 4.6% ABV... retains its lagerish body, which may be a slight detriment in the overall experience....
