Draught @ Times Square location: This one pours a rather lighter color than expected. It is a clear golden color with an off-white head. It leaves some lacing. It has a sweet, malty aroma with some floral notes. The taste is somewhat sweet. Faint citrus and maybe a hint of butteriness. Good, but it could be better.

On tap at the brewery 7/3/06.
Poured a foamy copper with a strong red-faded hue and off-white thin layered top.
This actually smelled a bit like licorice and spices. The taste was the same, a bit strange and somewhat odd. Not the typical Maibock beer that I am used to, not a lot of bitter flavor, but a resounding amount of flavors that were oddly mixed. This was like mixing cream into an ESB. (I don't know how else to explain that)
Overall, this is a beer that may be best tried during the Seasonal Voyage (which is a 5 oz'er of all their normal 5 beers, 2 seasonals and a choice of 1 other seasonal).
Great place with great food. This is not the best beer there, but worth a try.
Cheers.

Reviwed as part of an 8 beer tasting flite.
THis was the highest alcohol beer available on this visit.
The pour was of a bright copper color topped with a whisp of a head just off white. Notes of honey were easily detected in the nose. Honey flavor was big, not hot, but nice and big. Finish left you wanting more of its honey goodness.

Had a half pint of this served in the proper glassware.
Appearance was a nice straw color, very much resembling apple juice. Little lacing.
The smell was aomatic of fruity flavors and the taste supported the smell.
Some apple flavor upfront and finished with a nice toastiness. No hop to speak of.
I didnt know too much about the style but I must say I enjoyed it very much. Went down very easy and tasted great.
