This was Heartland's season brew at the moment in the Times Square location. I poured a lovely dark ruby color with brighter ruby highlights. There was an off-white head atop the beer. The aroma was malty, bready, and a bit grassy.
Flavor was similar to the smell. A lot of caramel malt flavor, along with a big grain bill. There was an astringent grassy flavor that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It wasn't hops, but it was certainly bold and slightly bitter. Mouthfeel was medium and creamy. This isn't the best Scottish beer I've had, but it's a nice session ale and stays true to the style.

I recently tried this sweet malty scotch ale at the Seaport Hland location, (they are doing BBQ down there now) anyway this one pours dark auburn, murky and cloudy with a tan creamy head and leaving loads of thick lacing. Light nose of bready yeasts. This is a smooth drinking malty beer. True to the stye its nice and nutty with caramel notes. Fine sessioner, nice job by HTLND brewery or whoever brews this stuff for them in Brooklyn...
