Heartland Tripel Hibiscus, half-pint mug at Heartland Port Authority.
Appearance: A pale amber-colored beer with barely any head, some lacing and just not terribly impressive for a Belgian-style tripel.
Smell: Malty, grainy, diacetyl, brown butter. Slight spice, herb, medicinal.
Taste: In the mouth, it reminds me of Allagash Curieux. Slightly boozy/bourbony, flowery. Champagne, yeast, New Year's Eve. Good hop base that shines at the end of the sip. Grassy, vinous qualities as well.
Mouthfeel: Medium flavor, body and carbonation. Nice spicy tingly finish that lingers. Refreshing and uncomplicated.
Overall: For 7.5%, this sure drinks well. Nothing amazing or complex, but pleasant enough to drink.
