Appearance - Pours black with cola brown edging and a tan, one finger width head that dissipates in fair time, revealing a thin, broken layer of surface suds. No real lacing to speak of.
Smell - Certainly smells fudgy. Strong chocolate aroma with hints of caramel and roast and a faint trace of cherry.
Taste - Doesn't quite live up to the depth of the nose. Milk chocolate upfront and throughout with light hints of sweet and slightly tart cherry. Faint caramel found mid-taste. Unfortunately the chocolate is a bit of a one-note character, and doesn't really get 'fudgy' like it smells. Finishes sweet much like it starts, with lesser cherry notes playing off that milk chocolate base.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with low carbonation. A little thin for the flavor profile, honestly, and not much going on here with the carbonation; finishes rather flat.
Overall - A pretty good but not exceptional brew. I think it lacks a much needed thicker, creamier texture with a bit more carbonation and maybe more chocolate depth. Good drinker, but not without its flaws.
