This is beer was great. It was an one-time one-off collaboration ale made by both Great Lakes Brewery, Amsterdam and winemaker Andrea Glass infused with ice wine aged in oak barrels for a year. Slightly cloudy golden in colour, it has an over powering aroma of ice wine with a subtle citrus bitter aroma that balances out the sweetness of the ice wine. It is medium bodied which is surprising for the high ABV value of this particular ale. On the first taste the ice wine and barrel (oak) characteristics are the prominent flavour, but the bitterness does balance the beer out as you finish your sip. It definitely has some floral hop character and finishes with a lingering oak/ice wine flavour. These finishing flavours build the more you drink this ale. Overall an amazing mixture of traditional farmhouse ale blended with the amazing flavour of local Ontario ice wine.
