Bottle: Poured a golden bright yellow color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of strong spice with peppery yeast notes is dominant with some rustic malt also identifiable. Taste is also a mix between some peppery yeast notes with a dominant mix of spices which is somewhat hard to distinguish. Malt backbone is pretty solid with some rustic Belgian notes. Body is fuller then average with good carbonation. I really enjoyed this one though it would have been better had the peppery notes been somewhat tamer.

Bottle from the brewery, thanks to Pino for grabbing me one. 500ml into a tulip.

Hazy golden yellow, soapy white head with some loose retention and lacing. Nose has some wheat, faint lemony citrus, and some grassier notes. Perhaps a suggestion of funk, but doesn't really get there. A little underwhelming. Peppercorn and cardamom come out with some Belgian-y yeast notes. Sweetish, more citrus zest, and light wheat. Medium feel, with a higher medium carbonation, gentle spicing into the finish. A simple, yet pleasing and moderately refreshing saison. Pretty good.

Quite hazy golden colour, wisp of white head, little lace left. Smell is quite spicy, belgian yeast, clove, pepper, some fruity esters, banana and bubble gum. Taste is spicy with a bit of a leafy sage like flavours, quite a bit of earthy notes, as it warms more yeasty flavours come out as well as some fruit, lightly funky with a bit of floral and citrus. Crisp medium carbonation, medium body and a pretty solid feel overall. This was good but still feels as though it lacks something, more enjoyable as it warmed however.

Bottle from Great Lakes. Don't recall seeing Steamwhistle listed on the label. Bottled about 2 weeks ago, so very fresh. Poured in to GL pint glass.

A - Slightly cloudy bright yellow colour. One finger of white head that reduced to a thin layer.

S - Belgian yeast, clove, light banana and light herbal aromas up front. Slight citrus in the background.

T - Slight bitterness up front with Belgian yeast and clove flavours. Some spice, sage and light citrus enter in the middle. The finish is dry and slightly bitter. The malts add a touch of bready sweetness.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Sage leads the aroma. A lace sheet, a little head on light coloured body. Sage overwhelming taste, pepper, also ginger in the finish. Tasted like crushed leaf has been added. A little earthy. Quenchable, though sippable until it grew on me. Decent carbonation. A toned down version of what was available a few weeks ago a the Brewery Market. I liked the bold taste of that better, sage and strong burning peppercorn.

On tap at Volo.

Beer is golden yellow, opaque. A small white head with decent lacing.

Smell is quite spicy, with herbal notes as well. Coriander, white pepper.

Spices in the taste as well- coriander and pepper. Some light fruit. Yeast, and a very mild funk. Dry.

Light bodied, moderate carbonation. Refreshing.

Pretty good. Found it to be rather average at first but it grows on you.
