a pretty tasty and balanced ipa here, better than many of the other beers i have had from these guys in the past. its got a deep almost crimson hue to it, past copper, almost a red in the look, with a just off white head on top. its got great clarity and looks well refined. the aroma is rather classic to me, richer crystal malt sweetness and toasted notes, then a big spicy pine wash from hops that might include cascade, centennial, or columbus, or maybe all of them. fresh for sure, and lots of them! i get some subtle orange peel, gin botanicals, and bitter bitter bite from the hops, while the grain contributes a defined breadiness and just a little bit of baked sweetness through it. i think there is excellent balance here, and although the style has certainly shifted away from this type of maltiness lately, i think this is really on point. moderate drinkability, its pretty darn hoppy, but the flavor is excellent and the quality high. i was impressed when i visited the brewery here recently, better beers than they get credit for i think!
