Valemount 18/7 2018. 34,1 cl bottle from the Wine Merchant in Jasper. Brown and black label made out to look like wood.
Pours clear yellow with a medium-sized white head. Settles as a thin almost transparent layer of foam clinging to the side of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense and rather sweet. Caramel, roasted malts brown sugar and hints of syrup.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, lively texture.
Flavor has a strong sweetness. Followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet but fairly short.
When in Canada I would have to stumble upon a beer sweetened with Maple Syrup. Not the worst effort when going up that aisle.

This has been a GIB staple for several years. At one point, it was a staple in our family. Unfortunately, it seems to have faded. Not sure if it's a function of my evolving taste or the generic streamlining of Granville, but this beer simply misses the mark. The signature maple flavors are lost in a metallic mush mash. Definitely a disappointment.

Appearance - Pours a copper red with two fingers of foamy cream coloured head.
Smell - biscuity malts is the predominant aroma, hint of earthy hops and hint of maple and grains.
Taste - Biscuity/toasty malts upfront with a mild earthy hop bitterness. The maple is lost in this brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Finishes off-dry.
Overall - A mildly disappointing cream ale that boasts Quebec sugar shack flavour but doesn't live up to the hype. The cream ale base is good but the main ingredient; maple needs to shine through.

Under the Bridge Series. This malty, smooth maple cream ale has a hint of maple syrup, with a mild hop bitterness. It’s a tribute to both Quebec’s legendary sugar shacks, and the tin roofs that littered the island back in the day.
Tasting Notes - Caramel malt with light hop bitterness, balances the malt flavours with hints of maple without being sweet.
