A popular West Coast beer style, India Session Ales, or ISAs, combine the well-hopped flavour of a traditional IPA with lower alcohol levels, and lower bitterness. Our ISA helps make your West Coast session last longer, whether you’re cruising the seawall, relaxing at home or washing down surf ’n’ turf with good friends. A moderate hop bitterness accompanied by fruity and floral hop aromas complemented by slightly sweet malt flavours create an approachable brew that can be enjoyed from high tide to low tide.

Deep copper hue with a light haze, moderate carbonation and a finger of light beige head.

Smells of pine, citrus, orange candy and caramel.

The taste follows the nose, and finishes dry with a hint of tartness, followed by a little bitterness.

Light body that is highly carbonated.

Drinking on Lake Muskoka, this snow day of April 16th, 2018. Decent session ale.

Two Tides India Session Ale.

Made by Granville Island Brewing Company in Vancouver, B.C. The brewery is now part of Molson-Coors.

473ml can. 4.6% alc.

The beer has a light beige head that dissipates relatively fast, leaving behind some attractive lacing.

The colour of the beer is an orange/amber.

Smell is pine and grapefruit, some white bread, and malt. All kind of subtle but pleasing.

Taste is pine and grapefruit. There is mild hop bitterness.

The body is light and kind of watery.

The finish is dry and tart.

As a session ale, this is enjoyable. It's something non-craft beer drinkers might like to try.

It's a good beer and well-made. Not great but respectable in every way. Certainly one I'd buy again. And well worth trying, if it's new to you.

Incidentally, I had the pleasure of touring their brewery in 2006.

Orange colour with good head. Moderate floral nose, mild taste. Thin, not overly bitter. Good but some better examples in style.

Nice lighter IPA. Not looking to kill my taste buds with hops like most IPAs. Pours a nice amber with a creamy looking head that dissipates rather quickly. Nice cascading aroma from the hops with a fantastic bitter pull that allows you to taste the grains, not just the hops. Great refreshing feel, good beer overall.

12 oz can, part of a G.I. 4x3 can 'Winter Mingler' pack.
Website says its a 'seasonal' beer....but doesn't say which season. The date code on the base of the can is indecipherable, so I have no idea how fresh this is.

Pours clean, clear amber. Head is modest, foamy, dissipates relatively quickly.
I smell hops....which, sadly, is a pretty big win in the nascient world of Canadian craft IPA.
Lacing on glass....check.

Taste is crisp and citrusy. No astringency, as expected w 4.6% abv.
Tongue is a bit resiny and thick.

A good beer, but not very good value (in large part thanks to Canuckistan liquor taxes).
(Note: this beer's average rating here is laughably low. Very shi++y beers still rate in the mid-8os....so wtf !?)

Rather subdued as i guess would would expect of a session ale. Looks very good. Clear amber orange with a moderate head. Pretty good lacing, so, handsome to look at overall.

Fruity, hoppy nose, but subtle. Noticeably malty, bit of a hop bitterness to finish, watery mouthfeel. Simple and plain, not real exciting.

Pours a clear copper body with a slight bit of just off-white creamy head that slowly dissipates to a thin film. The scent has a focus on lightly fruity hops, showcasing aromas of peach, orange, and some slight bitterness. The taste continues with bitterness at the front of the tongue, leading into a peachy, tropical sort of hop vibe, with lots of juicy hops poking out behind a lightly malted veil. The feel is pretty thin, as to be expected for a session ale, but in this case, it fits and really makes for an easy drinking beer when combined with the delicate flavour of the hops. Overall - one of the few India Session Ales I like!

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Purchased from the LCBO for around $3 CDN.

Appearance - a clear, pale golden coloured ale, with plenty of carbonation and capped by a half finger of white head.

Smell - not a terribly aromatic nose, some grassy notes and light on the citrus. Not much in the way of malts.

Taste - mild hop water with some metallic, and caramel and grainy characteristics. Easy to drink but leans more English style in terms of flavor profile. A bit of a lemon and pepper combo to close.

Mouthfeel - smooth with light body and moderate carbonation. Easy drinking and light feel.

Overall - Two Tides session ale isn't a bad IPA by any stretch, it's approachable and easy to drink, but there isn't anything here that really elevates it above the crowd in any manner.

Decent session ale from Granville. Not overly memorable. The hop presence is subdued, as are the malts. Worth a try but needs a recipe tweak to make it a regular session. Canned from the LCBO.

Pours copper with a crackly, long lasting head. Chocolate malts, spices and some astringent leafy hop notes in the nose. The taste is coarsely bitter with some lemon and woody herbal hop flavors and a minerally character. The mouthfeel prickly with a high carbonation. Medium bitterness and some caramel maltiness in the finish.

This IPA is hoppy but lacks a lot of hop aroma and complexity. It's like they only used hops in the boil. Still drinkable, but not notable.

Can: Poured a golden color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention. Aroma of citrusy hops notes is pleasant enough. Taste is quiet dry with light floral citrusy hops form the Citra hops with some light malt notes. Bitterness level is not too bad. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad but doesn’t really stand out from the crowd either.
