Draft in-house at White Spot. British Columbia review dump.
A- Deep copper red pour from the draft to a sleeve. Small white foamy cap falls slowly to a medium belt at the edges. Small webs of lace stick to the glass.
S- Mostly darker toasty malts. Sweet toffee bread nuts and hints of caramel. A touch of fruit esters.
T- Nuttier and even a bit toasty here, strange for a pale. Nuts, toasted bread, caramel, toffee, raisin and dark yeast fruits. Spicy hops are minimal. Medium sweet. Apple with time.
MF- Medium body. Low-moderate level of carbonation. Frothy and foamy but substantial enough texture to support the flavors.

Apparently White Spot has their own exclusive beer - who knew? Very mild carbonation. Medium amber hue. Medium bodied. Tastes of hops and caramel; a bit bready and brown sugary. A touch too sweet for what it is. Overall, very medium, for lack of a better word. Not bad, but nothing remarkable, or even all that notable.

20oz pint at the only current Whitespot in Edmonton.
This beer appears a clear, medium bronzed amber colour, with one fat finger of puffy, cushioned, and bubbly ecru head, which leaves some decent pitted limestone face lace around the glass as it evenly bleeds off.
It smells of mild caramel malt, a hint of toffee, some mild oily nuttiness, a slight apple fruitiness, and earthy, leafy hops - very GI in nature. The taste is nutty caramel malt, soft sodden bread pudding, apple and pear mush, a weird bit of ash, and more underwhelming earthy, weedy hops.
The bubbles are fairly restrained, and mostly just supportive in their bearing, the body a barely competent medium weight, and pithy in its workaday smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the caramel malt sticking around for a spell, with only a whisper of leafy, weedy hops to 'balance' things out.
Too sweet and one-sided to be considered a good example of an APA - this is more reminiscent of the Lion's Winter Ale, whose tap handle is staring me in the face right now. Drinkable, sure, but I sense a tongue-scraping episode if I were to order another. Simple, and adequate with anything spicy this establishment might offer up.

Pours brown, clear. Small white head that dissipates quickly. Decent amount of carbonation rising.
Aroma is very light. Hings of sweetness and malts.
Taste is also very light. Some malts and caramel. Not offensive, but not much going on.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and lightly cleansing.
Overall, it is OK. Not offensive just not very exciting. Drinkable.

Exclusive to the Whitespot.
Amber brown appearance with a small amount of bubbly head that quickly settles down leaving good lacing. Smell consists of brown sugar, caramel, bread and malt. Fairly light though.
Taste is similar to the smell, mainly brown sugar, caramel and bread. Also has a hint of malt and light yeast. Fairly light tasting with average features, but refreshing and well balanced. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Finish is a dry, brown sugar taste.
Overall, not a bad American Pale Ale. It's simple and drinkable with nothing offensive. Worth a try if only Macro beers are available.
