Bitter, which accounts for 40% of draught sales in England, usually comes in three strengths. Ordinary, Best Bitter and Extra Special Bitter. Our ESB is a deep copper coloured, malty ale, moderately hopped with a classic Golding variety of hops.

Poured from 568mL can into a pint glass. Note that the can just says "Longwood Extra Ale" and is listed at 5% ABV, but based on the website this seems to be the same beer.
Appearance: medium orange hue with virtually no effervescence and a very light haze. Despite the lack of apparent carbonation, there is a large head, two plus fingers of frothy white foam that is leaving a nice lace on the glass as it dissipates.
Smell: slightly sweet with a very floral hop character. Good, but not much malt character underneath.
Taste: floral and grassy with a light bitterness. Definitely hoppy, but mostly late additions it would seem. Again, the malt doesn't have a whole lot of character, but overall it's pretty tasty.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a decent carbonation and creaminess -- much more than the lack of apparent effervescence would suggest.
Overall: tasty and drinkable enough, it's a bit on the floral-and-sweet side to call this one outstanding.

A strong contender for best beer at this brewpub. Lots of English character but with the PNW kick in the hops. Well balanced and a big mouthfeel. Could drink a few pints of this and still find nuances in each sip. Would love to see this in bottles in the private stores

The website says 6.0%, but the menu had it at 5.5%.
A: Clear, light amber. Nice white lace.
S: Hint of malt and citrous hops.
T: Bready malt, nice Golding hop flavour. Quite British, although the yeast profile was a subtle, american style.
M: Light to Moderate body, moderate carbonation.
D: Very good.
