A beer this boastful is likely to disappoint. Will it?
Poured from a 650 ml bottle.
A: Amber/light brown - darker than I'd expect for an IPA.
S: Sweet pale malt. Could be a generic lager. Not unpleasant, but far less than I'd expect for the style.
T: Malty. Seems about as fitting of the style as Alexander Keith's. Certainly drinkable, though.
F: No complaints here.

Appearance: Golden amber and very nice plume of fluffy foam, though the bubbles are not overly small the retention is pretty good. Leaves a decent lacing and nice surface and ring around the glass.
Aromatics: First smells are of damp hay (not moody hay - just damp, like after a rain). Light citrus and tart floral with a slightly sweet and yeasty dough backdrop.
Taste: There is a good hopiness with being overly bitter or earthy. But the more forward flavours are sweet and malty with a nice blend of toasty caramelized biscuit. The hops blend more towards the backend with the sweeter malts that really take the heavy edge off and bring forward a slight tang of citrus peel (orange and yellow grapefruit). Because the hops are not as earthy as I expected, the piney flavour is heavily subdued.
Feel: Rich and creamy with a slightly slick and resiny texture. Medium weight and there is still decent enough carbonation allowing for a good snap and pop on the tongue. Drys the palate on the finish which is fairly clean a hint of earthiness loiters around but not for very long.
Overall: Not bad overall, it’s odd that after so many IPAs I’ve had to have one that is more sweet than bitter, and where the flavour is not cut off so quickly with a hoppy bitter or earthiness. Though all those things may also indicate that it might need a tad more hops? I think if you are real hop head you might be more disappointed with the sweeter taste. I personally like it, as it is complex to taste the sweet and bitter in such a harmonious combination without being hop heavy.

From a 568ml can into my7 IPA glass.
A dark orange amber with a thin off white head, nice lasting lacing.
A pine resin nose with some floral there.
Malty with some hop bitter there ,short on the hops for my taste but not bad.
There Pilsner is one of the best from B.C. the IPA needs some more work.

A big cheers to oldguyandy for this one! A FIFA World Cup bet never tasted so sweet!
A: Poured from a 650 mL bottle into a tall glass with a solid golden caramel or amber with lots of fluffy off-white head.
S: Some pleasant but admittedly faint floral aromatics
T: Some yeastyness to go with some crisp citrusy notes make for an interesting balance. For a Strong Ale at 6.50% there is a nice hop character without being too challenging or heavily alcoholic. Paired nicely with a mild coconut chicken curry.
MF: Medium body and carbonation.

Poured from 568mL tall can into a pint glass.
Appearance: medium orange hue with a little haze and a moderate effervescence. Head is a thin finger of frothy ivory foam. Not too bad.
Smell: rather malty with a fair dose of dank, citrusy hops. Not too bad but a little low intensity for my taste.
Taste: malty, with a big dose of dank hops and a moderately strong bitterness. It's not objectively bad, but there's not necessarily a whole lot to recommend it.
Mouthfeel: full-bodied and well carbonated, this is pretty creamy for an IPA. It works for me.
Overall: this beer is fine, but it doesn't engage me. There are plenty of better IPAs out there.

Longwood Brewpub 'The Big One' @ 6.5% , served on tap @ Island Beerfest'14 & a recent 473 ml can
A-pour is light gold from the can/tap to a dark gold in the glass with a medium white head leaving a fine spotty lace along the sampler/pint
S-malt base seems to stand out
T-big bitter swallow
MF-ok carbonation , possible full body
Ov-just not up to Island standards

Nice to see Longwood in big tall cans and in Vancouver. This is an IPA that claims to be huge and cutting edge but is rather a balanced IPA that tastes more like a APA. The colour is darker than expected and the nose is understated. The mouthfeel is full but the hops are certainly not in your face. Decent beer but not even in the top 5 BC IPAs.
