Copenhagen 25/11 2017. 75 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen. Symbol of the brand - a 8 pronged silver star - on the label and the promise of being rich and dark.
Pours maroon with a small white head. Settles as a thin creamy layer of foam barely covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma has a solid malt base with some notable notes from the hops peeking in. Caramel and brown sugar - but not very prominent. Very characteristic odor from the Golding hops.
Soft carbonation and medium thick palate.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a quite strong but pleasant bitterness. Very English and civilized. Aftertaste is bitter sweet. Lingering. Semi dry finish.
Fine take on a ESB from Royal Unibrew. Nice that the competition from the small breweries also makes the big breweries produce a decent Christmas beer once in a while.
