Appearance - The beer poured blackish brown in color with a light tan head crowning the pour.

Smell - The nose was composed largely of browned coconut. The rum was not detectable.

Taste - The was a good amount of coconut taste initially. It was not overwhelming or artificial. The rum was light, which was a good thing, since the beer was not made to taste like paint thinner. Lightly sweet, the beer finished with dark roasted malts.

Mouthfeel - The beer seemed thin and had very noticeable carbonation.

Overall - It was not an elite coconut porter, but was better than most.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter.

The appearance is black with some brown around the edges. Like a really dark cola color.

The aroma is big with spiced rum, coconut, chocolate malt sweetness and some roasted malt notes.

The taste follows the nose with a punch of rum spice along with coconut, bitter chocolate and roast malt coming through.

The palate is medium with a clean finish that reminds me of soda. Has a bit of a tingle on the finish that lingers nicely.

Overall this is another really solid imperial porter from tyranena.

12oz bottle. Served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark cola brown body, nearly black, nice one finger offwhite head, good retention, bits of splotchy lacing all about. Looks good. Smells good too, with a nice chocolate malt presence, slightly nutty with a touch of toasted coconut and sweet rum. Brown sugar. Flavour essentially follows, with a nice mellow coconut presence on the backend. Rum is in good harmony with the rest of the flavour profile, which is more or less a big porter- slight nuttiness, milk chocolate, touch of roast. A moderately sweet beer. Mouthfeel is medium-lighter bodied, good carbonation, slight nutty and coconut finish. A tasty, balanced barrel aged beer with just enough coconut to make it interesting.
