On tap at the Twisted Spoke, poured into a tulip.
Pours a very deep brown which is nearly opaque unless held up to the light. Very thick and creamy head that took a couple sips to penetrate.
The smell is cloyingly sweet, like a quad but without the favors that make it interesting. That, and cheap bourbon.
The tase is a bit better with a little bit of bitterness to bring things down a notch. However, the flavor is ultimately dominated by the sweetness and the barrel flavors not quite playing nice together. I also tasted bananas about halfway though.
Overall, I'm glad I had it once, but probably won't order it again. If you like sweeter than average barley wines, this might be your kind of beer.
