A - Pure white head at about a quarter inch holding strong on top of a golden yellow body. There's a fair amount of rising carbonation giving this beer some good action.

S - Malt scent that is stronger than most lights.

T - Malt and barley with a subtle sweet ingredient as well.

M - Soft with a coarse middle and it goes down easy as most lights do.

~ For a crisp light brew with solid character don't hesitate to take advantage of a Point Light.

The color was a pale straw yellow with a thin soap ring head.

The smell was faint with a bit of skunky bad hop smell.

The taste had a mild bit of toasted and bready grains with a bit of green grassy hops, but all the flavors are very mild. Has a strange sourness in the finish.

The mouthfeel was light and powdery.

Not real good, I would avoid this one.

Steven's Point Brewery's Light pours a couple fingers
of creamy white foam over a very pale white brew.
Carbonation is slow and irregular- the nose is a ghost
of light barley malt and lager yeast. The flavor is the barest
tang of corn lager and a ghost of some kind of hop. Mouthfeel?
Watery. To be honest, I only tried this because it was in the
Steven's Point variety pack. I can't guess why they would
choose to highlight this point of their product line- though,
again, I can name off the top of my head two supposedly full-
flavored beers which are much worse than this thing. The
problem is that the low-calorie lager is, by design, a lesser

This new beer from Point was included in the sampler 12 pack.

Served in a standard pint, the beer is a bright light gold with a large initial white head. The head collapses and leases a skim on the top and wisps of lace.

The nose was decent for a light beer. There is some grains and some subtle flower and spice notes.

Good taste for a light lager. There is some depth from the grains and the hops while mild do add a bit of a bite. The beer is less sweet than many of its light brethren. Don’t know, but I’m guessing the IBUS are about 12-15 compared to most light beers being about 7.

The mouth is decent for what it is. Drinakble, yes for fans of this style. Not a bad effort at all.

Poured a pale golden color with very modest white head that quickly fell to spotty lacing.
Smell is slightly sweet, but little else.
Taste is also very mild, but a bit of hoppiness is present.
Finishes light and refreshing.
Not bad, but not great either. Expensive spacer..

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, beer is a very light straw color with a white, two finger, bubbly head. The smell is very weak, but is of corn and malt. The taste is also not very impressive, corn and adjuncts, although I would consider it better than bud light. The mouthfeel is of course light and the carbonation is also pretty light. This is a drinkable beer due to the lightness of the body, but not a desirable one.

First of all I'm a hugely biased Point fan. But this beer just pisses me off. Beyond watery. What really burns me is that they put it in their 12pack variety packs and I won't buy them because of it. I think they are using that as a tool to get rid of this watery swill. No malt, no hops, carbonation & that's about it.

It's just totally watery. You compare this wimpy wannabe "beer" to a Samual Adams Light and it isn't even in the same planet.

Watery, watery, watery. Don't waste your time, unless you are dying of thirst.

I enjoyed this beer at friend's house who received the beer as a gift. No idea how long he had it. Poured from a bottle to a pint glass.

Appearance: Very light pale color with almost zero head.

Smell: Not much smell at all, but a little citrusy.

Taste: Huh? Not much going on here. What you would expect from a brewery trying to draw in the macro crowd.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied and kind of crisp.

Drinkability: I certainly wouldn't choose this as a session beer, but it wasn't the worst beer I've ever had.

Pours extremely pail yellow. Head is slight and immediately dissipates to a thin ring.

Aroma is sweet, corn adjunct. Pale malt with a hint of lemon.

Taste is surprisingly sour, with a definite vegetal quality that doesn't meld well at all. Finishes with a powerful metallic quality - like sucking on a penny.

Mouthfeel is light and thin.

Don't bother.

T- lightly malt flavor with a clean crisp flavor

M- light bodied, medium carbonation

D- not too exciting, however it is drinkable becuase it is so light on flavor

Apperance for this beer with GHT is not so impressive looks a light yellow. Lace was pretty good which sticks to the glass through out the experience. Smell is that of any domestic light lager gave this perticular beer a 3 very average smell . Taste was slightly lemony which helps its taste. More flavor then the avg. domestic light lager hints of honey rather watery in the back of my throat nearly no hop flavor. Mouthfeel was watererd down with hints of lemon. Like drinking a glass of water with a lemon in it not much carbonation nearly 0 bubbles. Ok alternative to other light lagers. I smoked a little two apple shisha (Hookah) with this glass of beer

This review is part of Macro Smackdown XXI. The calorie count would seem to favor Point Premier Light (105 compared to Yuengling Premium Light's 98) and I have to believe the ABV is higher than the 3.1% listed for the other beer. More alcohol doesn't necessarily mean more flavor, so we'll have to see what happens in the real world. As the saying goes, 'that's why they play the... MacSmack'.

Sun-faded straw; by far the more typical hue for a light lager. I prefer the richer color of the other beer, but I like the head on this one better. It's rich ivory, semi-creamy and hangs around at least as long (if not longer). A little more lace doesn't hurt either.

PPL is more aromatic than YPL, but it doesn't smell as good. There's an artificial quality to the nose that I've run across in a few light lagers and more than a few NA beers. More grain and more hops would (obviously) help a great deal.

The flavor of this beer follows its nose as surely as its competitor's does. Unfortunately, that isn't a good thing. Point Premium Light is the most 'NA tasting' light lager in recent memory. Something is amiss and I can't figure out what it is. Plastic-like doesn't quite fit, but there's an off-flavor that is ruining what should be a simple barley, hops and water (lots of water!) experience.

Just like the rest of the beer's attributes, the mouthfeel is nothing to write home about. But then show me a light lager whose mouthfeel is and I'll go buy some stationery. This one is a little softer in the mouth... which makes it less enjoyable. Not enough to earn a lower score, however. On second thought, a lower score is warranted.

The results of this light lager head-to-head surprised me a little. Having had a few offerings from each of these breweries, I thought Point Premier Light would come out on top. As I said above: 'that's why they play the... MacSmack'.

Had this out of a keg at a super bowl party. Looks like a typical light pilsner, maybe a touch darker. Smell was nothing spectacualr, a touch of hops. The taste was pretty good, considering it's a light pilsner. More hop flavor than other light beers. Definately a good choice over the bud lights of the world, and a pretty good deal (at least here in Wisconsin).
