First had: on tap at Exchequer Restaurant & Pub, Chicago, IL
The house brew on tap at Exchequer. Pretty standard amber, and they usually have better stuff on tap. PIZZA!
Poured a clear, simple amber, generously carbonated, with a small foamy head that dissipated rather quickly. Toasty malts and grains in the aroma, caramel, nutty, and a bit metallic. A very Yuenglingy vibe going on. The taste pretty much follows the smell, with toasty grains and caramel malts, reminiscent of a Yuengling, with a metallic twinge to it, and a bitter aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, fizzy, and somewhat drinkable if you aren't feeling adventurous and/or are really just in it for the deep dish.

A "house" beer made for the Exchequer in downtown Chicago. Figured this was the appropriate place to put it, as the Exchequer is definitely NOT a brewpub. Served in a pint glass.
A - Served with a finger of off-white foam that quickly settles to a thin cap. A few spots of lace remain as the beer is consumed. Transparent amber color that's actually pretty attractive, and a few bubbles sporadically making their way upwards
S - Toasted caramel malt, cotton candy, some light cinnamon and apple, and some faint metallic notes. Understated and underwhelming, even with fairly low expectations.
T - Taste is a little better, with toasted grains, light toffee, and not much else. It's fairly clean, with some slight residual bitterness and a touch of generic beer aftertaste. Not great, but not offensive.
M - Too much carbonation, and some unpleasant graininess. Medium body, with a slightly chewy and sticky finish.
D - The last few ounces weren't overly enjoyable, but otherwise this is a passable "house" beer for a bar not particularly revered for its selection. The carbonation bloat and mediocre taste make it something I wouldn't bother ordering again - would rather go with the Sierra Nevada or rotating Bell's handle.
