12oz bottle. Snifter glass. Slightly hazy, unfiltered golden copper body, two finger white head, good retention, lots of lacing. Smell is tropical fruit, papaya, guava, grapefruit, moderate caramel sugar sweetness, light resin. Flavour follows, fairly standard IPA backbone with a fair bit of tropical fruit presence. Solid, not much in way of off-flavours, on the sweeter side as far as the malt goes. Mouthfeel is lighter medium bodied, good carbonation, easy drinking, mild resinous bitterness on the backend. Not much passion fruit or anything like that, fairly standard malty IPA profile.

Pours a large, frothy white head. Sweet fruit dominates the nose; passion fruit in the front, with a touch of citrus rind behind it. Clear, golden color. Starts with a very bitter front, notes of pine and citrus rind dominate. Moves into a poignant, sharp citrus rind bitterness. There is a hint of passion fruit behind this all. The finish is lingering bitterness, with citrus rind flavors dominating.
I really like Lake Louie's other hoppy brews. This was disappointing. For being a "passion fruit IPA," there's not a lot of passion fruit going on. It's just an overbearing citrus rind bitterness with pine notes. While this smells pretty good, it tastes a bit abrasive for me.
