(chilled bottle left out 15 min before pouring... poured into a shaker)
L: polished-clear dull pale amber... foam climbs almost finger-width high, has a slimy gloss to it... subpar head retention, though some wide streaks of lace
S: potent light caramel, melon, floral hints... slightly doughy malt... very familiar ester profile that reminds me of Boddington's, I loathe to say... bit of tobacco... gotta be whole hops used
T: certainly hoppy, but fairly well-balanced, allowing the biscuity malts to coat the bottom of the palate... hops leave a solid, lingering, tea-like bitterness which keeps building, with flavors of lime peel and quinine in the aftertaste... the balance does end up tipping more toward the hops, but you're getting more green, leafy flavor as opposed to some of the fruity, tropical bullshit in the American genre
F: very light, glassy-clean, smooth flow... lager-like dryness
O: this beer reminds me of Scotland so much - it typifies the overall flavor characteristics of the local pale ales I had - no surprise it was brewed at Caledonian, because I'm sure I did have my fair share of their brews around Edinburgh and elsewhere... what a lovely surprise - I very much like the flavor, and I'll be having more, thank you

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden-yellow color with a small, foamy, off-white head. It smelled of earthy/mossy notes with a biscuity malt profile. It tasted of caramel malt with an earthy/mossy hop taste.

Pours out a nice clear amber with a beige head that dissipates quick but leaves a nice lace.
Smell of sweet cake, hops and fruity citrus.
Taste is very much like the aromas with predominant citrus and fresh baked cake.
Slightly sweet mouth feel with a mild bitterness.
Great session IPA from Newcastle.

Newcastle Caledonian British Session India Pale Ale has a thin, pillowy, off-white head, a clear, bubbly, burnished-gold appearance, and some lacing streaks left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, cream cheese cake icing, and the flavor is of sweetness, earthy bitterness, and a touch of citrus and bread. Mouthfeel is medium, and Newcastle Caledonia British Session India Pale Ale finishes semi-dry and refreshing. With its 5.1% alcohol and medium body, it seems to be anything but a session beer.
