Copenhagen 18/12 2019. 75 cl bottle from Føtex, Vibenhus Runddel, Kbh. Ø. La Goudales usual, elegant handwritten label design. This time white writing on red background.

Pours clear, dark amber with a small white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Very moderate lacing.

Aroma is medium-intense, sweet and with lighter sourish overtones. Caramel, straw, sugar. Lighter sourish odor. Lightly metallic and a little chemical.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is fairly sweet followed by a more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste has a sourish bitterness with a sweet undercurrent. A bit of burnt caramel. Lingers for a bit. Lightly boozy finish.

Very much on the sweet and malty side but not without a bitter bite. And a decent boozy twist.

A lighter treat than Belgian Strong Darks typically go.
Ambree' also Looks a pleasant switch to an amber color with light penetrating and an healthy foam that sticks around.
Smells are less distinct, mostly dark tree fruit; only less of it than its heavier brethren. Tastes are balanced, never too sweet and the hops are prominent enough in the finish to avoid a sweet after-taste. Medium-mouthed, even tho there is little viscous. Ambree' is a subtle interpretation of a heavy style.

My third from Goudale, I like how they are keeping alive the French malty tradition. Not many of their countrymen are. While U.S. crafters frequently try making the Biere de Garde, Goudale keeps alive the standard.

Tall can poured into a proper pint glass in Toulouse, France.
Reasonable white cap on amber brew.
Nose brings caramel malt and a floral note.
Taste follows with malty / bready overtone, some floral middle with a mild bitterness before a sweetness takes over.
Mouth is light, medium carbonation.
Overall, an everyday Ambree found in every grocery store and epicerie in France. It’s inexpensive and doesn’t feel like juice for street people.

You can definitely taste the malt along with carmel and a bready type flavor.

Amber pour with white mixed bubbles/foam; excellent clarity; good cap retention and solid ring; moderately heavy lacing. Caramel malt with a faint floral hop nose. Taste is sweet caramel malt, lite floral hops; toasted brown bread as liquid warms; slightly phenolic; some spice/coriander on the back end. Medium lite body, moderate carbonation; no warmth from 7.2%. Overall, malty sweet with some spice notes; an enjoyable Biere de Garde.

De Club del Gourmet de El Corte Ingles del Duque. Lata. En copa Teku. Jugando a Slay the Spire. No sera una original explosion de sabores, pero tiene agradable perfil acaramelado que se disfruta, sin que el alcohol se le note demasiado

Got a .75l bottle as a present. With ingredients like rice, fructose, dextrose, ascorbic acid and caramel, it did not exactly lead to great expectations. I kept it in the cellar for a few years until it was about a year past its bbd. I expected a sweet chemical soup, but it turned out to be okay. Probably because i let it expire :).

Nice amber colour with a decent head of steady foam. Smell of herbal hops, malt and caramel. Same flavours in the taste, which got a decent malty profile going on and has a decent balance between sweet and bitter. Not a lot of complexity going on though. It's a bit like a German Altbier meeting a Belgian amber (like Palm or De Koninck). Medium-bodied.

I certainly don't recommend it though. Don't settle for a "not as bad as you might think, turns out to be okay"-beer with so many great alternatives around!
