500 mL bottle from The Beer Store; best before 02/01/2026 and served well chilled. Labelled as "Stiegl Freibier NaturtrĂ¼b". Stiegl only has one NA beer listed on their website, so I'm assuming this is the same thing.
Pours a clear straw yellow colour, capped with two inches of lumpy, foamy white head that dissipates slowly. A little over five minutes later, it has been worn down to a soapy quarter-inch cap and collar, with a narrow band of lace clinging to the perimeter of the glass - it's visually quite appealing. Mildly sweet, wort-y aroma of grainy malts, doughy (American) biscuits and faintly grassy, herbal hops.
Decent flavour for a non-alcoholic lager. A bit doughy, with cereal grain sweetness, bready malts and a touch of apple skin coming through mid-sip; hints of grassy hops crop up towards the back end. Finishes with more doughy sweetness and grain husk, culminating in a slightly wort-y aftertaste that doesn't linger. Light in body, but not thin, with moderate carbonation that remains prickly and crisp for the entirety of the session. Very easy to toss back.
Final Grade: 3.75, a B+. While I'm sure that there are better NA lagers out there, I have no real complaints about Stiegl Freibier. If I ever develop an excuse to drink NA lagers on a regular basis, this one would probably be in the top ten - I've certainly had much worse examples, and not all that many that I would say are categorically superior (at least, not as far as NA pale lagers go). If you're looking for a low-alcohol lager, this is worth taking out for a spin.

Sorry guys but the one I had was awful. Watery, bitter and slightly sour and not in a good way. Clausthaler does way better no als. This one was just bad, had to pour half down the drain. Ugh.

Pours clear, pale gold in color with one third inch head. Taste is honey, mineral, toasted malt and grass. Light bodied with high carbonation, sweet. Makes for a nice and clean lager. A good beer to sit and sip on a hot day. Very pleased with this one.
