Thanks to pubstyle for opening this one at Rob's insane barleywine tasting. Cool looking bottle.
Pours a clear reddish orange, some amber highlights, thin white head forms, settles down to a thin ring, looks pretty anemic, no real lacing.
Smell is weird, honey, very very sweet, apricots, caramel, more sweetness, hard to describe it as anything else.
Taste is similar, very fruity, lots of apricot, honey, sour candies, caramel and honey, almost like a sour icewine, interesting but not very good.
Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with low carbonation, syrupy stuff. Honestly maybe the worst interpretation of a barleywine I've ever had. Nothing is right with this. Thanks Troy!

Bottle brought by Troy to Rob's great barleywine tasting - thanks Troy! Looks classy in its thin ice wine bottle.
Pours a russet amber color with a few big bubbles that collect around the collar.
A light caramel presence (way too light for a barleywine) mingles with melon, leather, apricots, bread, raisins. Extremely light body with a weird artificial sweetness. Not much carb only attenuates the light body.
This is hardly drinkable on any level and as a barleywine it fails badly. Couldn't even finish my sample.

Troy brought this along to our barleywine tasting - thanks man! It comes in an impressive slender ice wine style bottle, and is certainly the most attractively packaged beer I've seen for some while.
Poured a rich orange with a white head that soon dropped to a collar. Leathery aroma, with some sweet fruit notes to it. Disappointing, and way off the mark for the style. Tastes like leather, pale malt and a splash of sweet juice. I only had a few ounces and that was enough when there's so much better on offer. Body and carbonation is medium-light.
Its not absolutely terrible as a beer, but as a barleywine it kinda sucks.
