Pours a golden copper with a thin snow white head. Not much lacing. Smell is overwhelmingly sweet raspberry. Maybe a bit of fruity malt but hard to detect behind that aroma of raspberry syrup.
Taste is not surprisingly sweet raspberries. There is some tartness to balance the sweet so it is not as overpowering as the aroma. Some substansial malt to give backbone to this beer. There is even a bit of funkiness to this brew. I'm not a big fan of fruit beer and I know this isn't a real lambic by any stretch but the brewer at least has attempted to bring in other elements that make this beer more complex than most attempts. A medium bodied brew and not too drinkable for me, still a bit too sweet. A nice effort though. Imaginative. Barkeep told me this is basically their strong belgian ale with raspberries.
