May 2005: Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival 2005, gravity dispense. This beer was described as an "old ale styled beer" in the festival programme, but the brewery website describes it as a "strong bitter". Colour is reddish brown. Excellent complex aroma: dark fruits, sherry, oak, butterscotch, hints of ensilage and new-mown grass. Fairly sweet oaky and malty flavour, some caramel and dusty hops too.

A bottle I picked up from the brewery itself on my recent trip to Wales.. Pours nicely with a good head, the body is light amber in colour. Smells of a ginger and caramel aroma. Tastes of a sweet caramel flavour with a mild ginger sharpness and full malt finish. Overall a good Premium Bitter/ ESB
