Well its about time. Bristol has finally stepped in to the popular Sour category. Not a bad sour, but long overdue. Quite expensive though. And a kettle brew at that. Bristol using pellet hops has always dismayed me While this brewery was once one of the pioneers of Craft brewing in Colorado Springs, it has slowed, ever since Jason has left as the brew master and has started his own Trinity Brewery. Jason put them on the map. Bristol needs a creative spark. Maybe Bristol is now too big and getting old and hard to move and change.

i categorized this as a fruit beer, not because its closest to that in style, but because its decidedly not a wild ale, nor is it a berliner or a gose, so here we are without a generic sour ale category, any advice on what to do in that situation here on BA would be welcomed. the beer is excellent, a kettle type sour with a very clean and appropriately restrained sourness. the mango in here is awesome, it taste fresh to me, pulped up and juicy, ripe, and with that sweet and tangy pine note a fresh mango has, lots of it here too, and its sweetness is cool to balance the sourness and make this a lot more drinkable than it would otherwise be, the balance between the acid from the lacto and the sweet from the fruit is on point, and even though the flavor is quite simple, its really good. i wish it had more carbonation though, i like it being super light, but it didnt feel as lively as these flavors and textures seem to demand, its less summery and refreshing without it, even at this low abv. neat to see bristol doing sour beer, i was not aware that was something they were up to. this is a very natural tasting mango profile too, well done overall.
