Beer is dark brown with a typically-cask like small white head. Good lacing.
Smell is light but nice. More on the nut brown side than the sweet potato. Wood and nut scents are most prominent.
The sweet potato is noticeable, but not obviously potato. would not have identified the flavour, but it is obvious that this brown ale has been altered with something. Beer has a starchy taste and is slightly spicy. Moderately sweet. The nutty flavour of the brown ale is still there. Interesting, but not my favourite. That being said- I am not really into potatoes, which probably detracts from my enjoyment.
Beer is light bodied. Typically nice cask carbonation. Fells pretty good, but is too thin.
Overall, not bad. Probably pretty tasty for somebody who is into sweet potatoes. That flavour is far from overpowering, but is certainly there.

Volo Cask Days 2008.
Surprisingly one of the better casks I tried (though I probably shouldn't be surprised by these brewers).
A: Ruby-brown, off-white head, no retention, but it initially leaves some lacing.
S: Nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, sweetness (candied yams?), slight British yeast fruitiness.
T: Allspice, cloves and maybe a little grains of paradise? The modest bitterness allows a slight sweetness to come through. The sweet caramel & toffee from the malt is really dominated by the sweet potato though (in an interesting way).
M: Moderate body is smooth, with a light sweetness in the finish.
D: Surprisingly drinkable.

Brewed for Volo Cask Days 2008.Like a spiced pumpkin without the pumpkin. Loads of soap bubbles on brown. Big on cinammon. Drinkable. Not too complicated, original brown ale base adds sweetness to the spice. Decent cask.Average mouthfeel.May have been a tad hops.
