Started off our visit to the VPB with an IPA at the bar inside. Our table now being ready, we repaired to the patio for lunch. Being a warm, sunny day, I opted for something lighter, the Dunkelweizen. Served in a regular shaker pint glass, it was a deep, dark chestnut color. Head was creamy, fine and off-white, sitting at about 1/4", and leaving a nice trail behind on the glass. Aroma is an inviting choco/clove combo, enticing the olfactories... Pleasantly medium in body, this D-Weizen was low on prickly, bubbly carbo, enabling it to make a smooth entry down the throat.
Flavor hits the palate with more chocolate notes, as well as some subtle banana. It's a dry bier, with a smidge of bitterness present. A bit of clovey spiciness comes through, too, with the roasty choco character being the most recognizable trait here. Flavorful! It hit the spot well, along with my bowl of chili.
Zum Wohl!!

Served a deep dark hazy brown with a nice full off-white head. This beer is malty smooth with many mild roast notes accenting the beer's flavor. Mellow hop balance is there. This is one super smooth beer! Extra drinkable for sure. One of the best beers I've tried from the Vermont Pub.
