Darker gold with a faint haze. Small but lasting head. Many spots left on the glass.

Strong caramel nose. Not sweet. Low hop as the style suggests.

Lots of white toast flavor. There's a touch carmelized malt sugar. The carbonation is above average but the body is solid. The swallow has a flash of alcohol. The aftertaste remains malty but with a weak bitter lingering bit.

I'm trying this beer at the brewery. It poured a clear amber with very thin white head that is leaving very small lace. The scent had faint bitter hop notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink but was slightly bitter through the drink. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's an ok beer.

The appearance was a fairly deep copper to orange color with a finger's worth of white foam for a head. Dissipated swiftly to barely leave any lace.
The aroma had some sweet to roasty nuts with some toast and a faint grassy to earthy hop edge coating some caramel/toffee malts. Light biscuits.
The flavor was moderately sweet through the prior notes and developed a fair toastiness running about it. Mild aftertaste of some nuts, toast and caramel/toffee malts.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps a slight touch under in it's body. It's pretty sessionable and gave way to a fine carbonation about it. ABV felt on par. Super smooth finish, seemed to be a lot more than a lot of ones of this style.
Overall, pretty nice Oktoberfest that I would have again.

Stopped into the Pub on 09NOV12 with Alewife for some quick grub and grog. Had a pint of OFest to start...

Shaker pint glass was filled with a clear, deep copper lager. Head was light tan, creamy and fine, with some OK lacing on the glass. Nose was mild, with some toasty malt and caramel. Medium for body, it also was fairly decent on the tongue, with minimal prickle.

The taste had some caramel and light toffee, a touch toast and some light breadyness. Had a bit of floral hopping at the finish, along with a suggestion of spiciness, like what I get from Sam Adams OFest. Not bad... Prosit!

On tap poured into a pint glass.

Pours a amber orange color with essentially no head. Nose is sweet, malty and a bit fruity.

Taste is very rich and malty its a bit sweet but far from cloying. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy with a light hop bite on the finish. Overall its an average example of the style.

On tap at the pub.

Hint of very little head, hazy dark reddish maroon color.

Nose caramel malts, toasty, med reddish malts, touch of a fruity lager, bit of herbal hops, bit of esters.

Taste is loaded with caramel malts, syrupy, reddish light toasty malts, semi sweet, light bready malts, then herbal almost earthy hops but light, hint of lager fruits but not really crisp. Finishes a bit more bitter with a dry but flemmy finish.

Mouth is med bodied, decent carb.

Overall not good, very american style and not much of a real marzen, more American amber caramel red ale or something, and even then not great.

Amber beer with a small white head that falls fast. Lace clings nicely, however. Good clarity.

Aroma is light, mostly toasted malt with a faint sweetness.

Nice toasty malt flavor as well, but falls on the lighter side of the spectrum overall as far as depth. Modest hoppiness, mostly in the finish, which is fairly dry and vaguely bitter. Medium carbonation. Certainly easy to drink and sessionable but not tremendously interesting or memorable.

Pours a nice copper red but lacking in head. Scent is sweet caramel, toffee with light splashes of chocolate and faint butter. Taste and body is smooth, crisp and lightly sweet with nice caramel and chocolate malt notes backed by a solid earthy leafy hop profile. Good beer which adds a bit more to a style that produces quite a bit of indistinguishable brews.

Pours a mild red color with a slight orange hue. One finger head forms.

Nose is greeted by sweet $alt and a dollop of hallertauer hops. Decent at best.

Taste is full mainly of sweet malt. Not much else to lead with.
Perhaps a bit bland?

Mouthfeel is full of lingering sweet malt and a very small amount of hops.

Not bad. You can always do better.

Served in a pint glass at the brewpub.

Pours a medium amber color with red hues and a very thing tan head with no lacing. Chocolate malt and sour cherry aromas. Sweet carmelized malt, stone fruit, cherry flavors lead to some lemon rind with a roasted malty finish. Light carbonation, mediuim body, there is a creamy texture that coats the mouth. The flavors are very clean, an easy drinking marzen.

Served a clear amber with a clean white head. There is a nice munchy malt full body thang going on with this beer. A great hop balance full of citrus notes from the hallertauer hops is present and makes for wonderful flavors. The mouthfeel works out well too.
